OVERVIEW

The Sports Arena is committed to providing our campers and staff with a clean and safe environment, to compliment the very best programs, instruction and activities. We pride ourselves in our high degree of hospitality, integrity, and attention to detail.
Effective immediately, following guidelines have been implemented and will be updated on an ongoing basis, as we receive new information and directives from governmental and other health agencies and organizations, and based on our experience navigating this “new normal”.

Notwithstanding all the precautions that The Sports Arena will take, due to the nature of the virus, the risk of contracting COVID-19 remains, as we are all aware.  Please be safe, respect others and follow all of the precautions, protections and protocols put in place.

DAILY SCREENING

All camp staff will be screened upon their arrival each morning. Any staff member exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, either upon arrival, or at any point during the camp day, will be sent home, and will need to be symptom free and test negative for the virus before returning.

Campers must submit Health Forms prior to attending camp as required by NYS or the Department of Health. A copy of the camper's current Immunization Record must be submitted along with the Health Form

At that drop-off area, campers' temperatures will be taken by The Sports Arena staff with a no contact digital thermometer.  Those campers whose temperatures are less than 99.5% will be permitted to camp. Those campers whose temperatures are higher than 99.5% will not be permitted into camp.

All camp parents must perform a health screening for their child(ren) in advance of their arrival at camp each day.  Any camper exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms, either upon arrival, or at any point during the camp day, will be sent home, and will need to be symptom free and test negative for the virus before returning.

Parents must keep campers home if they are exhibiting any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose

Any other signs of illness

Our Camp Director reserves the right to send any campers or staff members home should they exhibit any of the above symptoms.

DROP OFF/PICK UP PROCEDURES

All campers, parent or caregivers will check in at the designated location upon arrival.

To ensure the safety of our campers, parents or caregivers will not be allowed to enter the facilty beyond the designated drop off location throughout the day including pick up.  Camp areas will be restricted to camper and camp staff use only.

CLEANING & SANITIZING PROCEDURES

At the conclusion of each day, our maintenance team will follow enhanced cleaning protocols to ensure that every camp area is sanitized for the following day.

Each camp area will be cleaned at the conclusion of each activity session to ensure the safety of the next group to use the space. All sports equipment will be disinfected after use and newly sanitized balls will be rotated in for each new group of campers.

Frequent hand washing and sanitizing will be encouraged throughout the day - additional sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the facility

FACE COVERINGS

All camp staff members will wear face coverings during interactions with campers whenever physical distancing is not possible.

Campers are not required to wear face coverings as defined by NY State.

GROUP SIZES

We will have smaller groups with no more than 10 campers per group. We will keep the members of the groups as consistent as possible.

We will minimize interaction between groups and strive for physical distancing during any such interactions.

Our counselors will modify camp and sports activities to provide the safest learning and playing environment, but will also ensure that our activities will still be diverse, active and fun!

LUNCH & HYDRATION

For full day campers  - Lunch schedules will be staggered to reduce the number of campers during each lunch session, and seating will be spaced-out and forward facing to assure adequate physical distancing.

We will ensure that campers hydrate throughout the camp day. Water stations will be operated by camp staff only and will be used to fill camper water bottles or single-use, disposable cups.

INCREASED STAFF TRAINING

All camp staff will complete a thorough orientation and training to include all of our updated safety protocols and activity modifications prior to the start of camp.
